高進(jìn)（周潤發(fā) 飾）前來香港與賭魔決斗，怎料剛抵港，便被南哥（楊澤霖 飾）追殺，結(jié)果墮入陷阱而失憶。幸得刀仔（劉德華 飾）和其女友珍（王祖賢 飾）相救，他們把高進(jìn)帶回家中療養(yǎng)，發(fā)現(xiàn)高進(jìn)精通賭術(shù)后，興奮不已，想利用他來掙大錢，卻反而因為高進(jìn)發(fā)揮不穩(wěn)虧了錢。
高進(jìn)妻子遭其堂弟 高義醉酒后污辱殺害。高義進(jìn)而聯(lián)手南哥，設(shè)計謀害高進(jìn)，四處搜羅進(jìn)的藏身地點，前往追殺。逃亡之時，高進(jìn)翻車受傷，竟恢復(fù)了記憶——但是卻怎樣也記不起失憶期間的事情。刀仔提醒進(jìn)，高義并非好人，但進(jìn)卻已然蒙在鼓里，不知危難當(dāng)頭。
